Steppin’ out

Howdy! It’s April Fools Day and you made it! Will you be pulling any pranks today? Me, I gave up on trying to fool people long ago. I have never had a poker face and my left eyebrow always, always, always give me away. Hmmm wonder if I just Botox one eyebrow so that it will keep it from raising when I am supposed to be serious? Really, no Botox for this chick, no, not me. I am allergic to bee stings and actually love my wrinkles and such because I earned them just like the stretch marks from each pregnancy. Well, today is April 1, 2021 and yesterday morning, a post from the American Cancer Society caught my eye. I opened the link and then saw that the fundraiser is a 40 mile walk, not done at one time, but done on your own time and to be completed during the month of April. So, I clicked yes, I would like to join and then it posted to Facebook. (I detest FB, for these reasons) Before I could remove the post I met my goal of $200. Honestly, I was going to donate that amount myself just to do the walk but thank you to everyone that donated! It made me feel special and it means so much as I lost my sister to neuroendocrine cancer this past March. My walk is in honor of my sister Denise and my husband Jim. He survived colon cancer. So, I challenge others to not just donate money, unless that is what you would like to do, but I challenge everyone to get your yearly physical. Have that mammogram, get that prostate checked out. Have a mole that doesn’t seem right? Get it looked at. You see, regular check ups save lives. I know that many people do not have the proper insurance but there are places to go even if you have no funds or insurance. Sickness, of any kind, not only affects you the person that is ill, but it effects your family and caregivers as well. If you, dear reader, needs help locating low cost or no cost medical care, I will gladly help in your search. Any-whooo, to any one interested in “virtually walking” with me, send me an email I just downloaded the Under Armor walking app and will track my 40 mile progress on there.

Speaking of American Cancer Society, check out their website and get to know them!

My eyebrow is down in this one.

Here is a little listening music from Katie Mula. She first caught my attention when I heard her version of the Cure Just like Heaven. Her voice is soothing and peaceful, just like this morning. Please press play…

I love orchestras!!!

So, we just finished up Women’s History Month and I didn’t get around to posting as much as I would have liked to but hopefully I will be back on a schedule. Speaking of schedules, I really needed one. I have been working on music and dance in the mornings and I am starting to feel the difference in my mood. I look forward to turning on Youtube and trying out new moves and it is getting easier to follow the various guitar instructors. My fingers are starting to remember where the A or G is or how to position for C7. I am sure that trying to learn bass and guitar at the same time is probably not a good idea but this is how my brain works and how I learn.

There is Taco Belle checking out the bass.

I am still reviewing all the photos and video I took on our little trip west this past weekend and have made a couple one minute videos.

Well, time to get the show on the road. Today I will start my 40 mile journey with a walk around our complex. I am sure Jenny will like it,

Jenny my shadow.

One last thing, I often write about my physical issues as I have many. A few years ago, just before my spine surgery, I had given up, well almost. The physicians, and there were many, could not figure out what was wrong with me as I had multiple symptoms. Often, I would joke that I needed a body transplant. So, I decided on my own to tackle one issue at a time. The pain in my spine was the most troubling so I chose to figure out that one first and keep my mouth shut about the other ailments like the dull pain in my upper right quadrant and the vision changes and pain in my left eye. Anyhow, I just found out I have gallstones and an enlarged liver. I knew the liver was bad long ago from all the abuses it has endured. Lucky they did not see any infection but do think surgery is needed. One more thing…I know that this pandemic has been rough for people to get care or to see a doctor but really, if it doesn’t feel right, get it checked out. Even though I have had a rough time getting the right care, please do not let that discourage you! Still waiting on the eye results but know that the pressure in my left eye is significantly higher than the right, thus the pain. Aye caramba! So, again, get yourselves checked out. I know the unknown is scary but when you find out what your issue is then you have road map and choices to make.

To you dear reader, thank you for the visit. Where ever in the world you are, be kind to your self. Hugs to you and you and YOU!

    1. Thank you for checking it out! Have a beautiful day!

  1. Katie Mula has a beautiful voice! Thanks for sharing her video. And your two little videos are great too, and I like the music you included in them. Finally, I’m sorry to hear about your latest health issues. They sure seem to multiply as we get older!

    1. I agree, I love her voice.

You are welcome. It was such a fun trip and so needed. I am glad that I now know what the issues are and now I can work on getting better! I hear it’s going to be near 100 this weekend. Stay cool 🙂

Okay, seriously, I am shivering right now after the Katie Melua performance. OMG!
I’m sure I will have it stuck in my ears at least a week. And I liked your videos too; just subscribed to your YouTube channel. I should talk to you about doing my own YouTube thing…you know, showing cooking how-to’s and such. Maybe people would learn to make bread, or maybe they would learn new cuss words. HAHA
Anyway, guess what? I’m going to take the 40 mile challenge with you!!! I am not on Facebook (hate it), but what do I need to do? I need to get my ass moving, and it’s for a good cause, so I’m all in! My hubster is on FB, so if he can sign up by proxy for me, let’s go! 🙂

    1. Hi Terrie!

Look up her version of Just Like Heaven, it was in a movie and it made me look her up. She does many covers of popular songs.

Thank you for subscribing 🙂 Sure if you need help, I am here for you. Cussing and cooking go hand and hand, at least when I am in the kitchen I think it would be a hoot. I would totally watch.

You are so cool! You can join, or have your hubby join on the FB. Here is the link

I downloaded the Underarmor app and I think we can create a team on there and we can log our miles I am going to walk around the same time every morning in our complex and hopefully get out on the weekends with hubby. I know what you mean about getting moving. I needed something to hold me accountable and it is for a good cause 🙂

Here is my email address we can exchange details there. Thanks again for your support.

Sounds great! I saw this morning that you aren’t using the UA app after all, and I cannot connect on FB, so I’m sending you an email to figure out plan C!
