A little of this…

Hello and good morning! You made it to June 17, 2020 and another installment of as the World Churns. Speaking of churning, I have had a crafty thing going on over here. We got the printer working again and I busted out the Modge Podge and heat transfers and even started cooking new things. Today, I will be making ice cream, yesterday, I made blueberry empanadas from scratch. I found this easy recipe empanada dough recipe from Epicurious Magazine a while back and glad I saved it. I changed it a little but that is what recipes are all about, they are guide books and open to interpretation like many of the great books have been. Here is a little show and tell from yesterday mornings wake and bake session.

My first ever pie! Really!

My Mom was quite a cook. She made the best pies and her crusts were the flakiest. She was the master of her kitchen and she made sure everyone knew it. If we had a family meal or party, she made 99.5% of all the food. I gave up trying to learn how to cook from her because she would not give out her secrets. Anyhow, in cooking, I have none, really. I have been winging it for the past 30 years. So, if something should happen to me, at least here is one recipe, sort of, to pass on to my kids (and with pictures!) Speaking of my Mom, June 15th, she would have been 83 and maybe this is why I caught the baking bug during this heat.

Pie all day, every day!!!

Oh yeah, empanadas are little baked pies that can be filled with meat or fruit or whatever your stomach and brain can cook up. It has been nice fiddling around as sitting sucks.

Yesterday, I also put together a little video of our ride this past Sunday to Idyllwild. It really was such a nice drive and I wish I were not such a chicken.

It has been hard to stay away from current events and such as I may shake my head off my body. There is just nothing more I can say on these subjects that hasn’t been said about being kind and taking care. The virus is still among us yet for the life of me, I can’t imagine how some people are still not believing how devastating it has been to many. 100k have will never have another slice of pie again, what is not to see about that? Also, our pres finally signed new police policies…cart after the horse…but I guess a step in the right direction. Oh yeah, murder, is murder, no matter what you call it…period.

Thank you, dear reader, for stopping by. May the sun shine on you today. Hugs to you and you and you…

Both empanadas and pie look really delicious!

I guess the best thing to do now is enjoying tiny moments like cooking or listening to music or watching the movies. 😀

    Have a great day! 😀

    1. If I could mail you one I would 🙂 They actually turned out good for my fist try.

I have been enjoying cooking and singing and dancing in my kitchen. Reminds me of when I used to work in as a chef, yes I did that too. I miss that job as it was fun to create specials out of the inventory that was about to code (go bad). Yes, these things happen in restaurants…ha ha!!

Have a wonderful day and smile 🙂

No wonder you excellently describe life in a restaurant or bar in your short story. I learnt a new recipe too yesterday: banana-Oreo smothie. 😀 Well… I was just following Madam’s instruction. 😀

Have a wonderful day! Oh, I miss blogwalking. 😀

      2. You are welcome!

Hmmm? Banana and Oreo. Might have to try that. The berries have been great this season so Hubby has been bringing me home good ones and lots to freeze. So we have been having lots of berry & fruit smoothies.

Yes! Do folllow her instructions. She does know best 🙂
If we all work together, everyone, we can all go back to blogwalking 🙂 You have had some really cool adventures from what I have seen and I am sure the future will bring more excitement and foreign lands to write about.

      4. We did have an oreo cheese cake shake at Sonic the other day and it was good. I really need to slow down on the sweets but Sonic really makes the best shakes 🙂
