Do-overs

Good morning and happy Friday! You made it through the last week and woke up today, June 5, 2020. Marches for change continue to irritate the powers that be, but keep it going! That uncomfortable itch the powers that be is feeling are the millions of people all over the world bringing their voices and enthusiasm for change. It is a beautiful thing, really. Another weird thing happened on Wednesday, former President Obama, addressed the nation. No, it was not a state of the Union type of address, it was informal yet broadcast on many channels. It was awesome! Our former president was the voice of calm and reason that we so needed, almost like a hug from an relative or old friend. Mr. Obama spoke so eloquently as he reminded all local governments to visit the plans that his administration had outlined during his administration to bring change in police policies, nationwide. He never mentioned de-funding the police or doing-away with police. He wants reform. He did not condemn the protesters only the rioters, and he really did not speak ill of the guy that followed him in office, but encouraged them to be peaceful but to continue in the #blacklives matter crusade. Also in this past week, I have been working more on me. I can’t fight for anyone’s rights if I am not well myself. This means less time sitting and working at my computer and more time walking around and moving my legs. Another funny thing with my spinal issue, Cauda Equina Syndrome, is that along with the swelling I get in my lower extremities, numbness and pain, I get cramps – like toes going in different directions and foot not being able to dorsal flex. Walking and moving helps greatly. Sitting is not good, it hurts and makes the leg cramps worse. The new neurologist I saw yesterday wants to run a nerve conduction test as he thinks it may be a pinch nerve. The look he gave me when he asked how long my legs had been feeling like this I said, “Look at my chart, I told you four years ago that I had been having issues with my legs and balance and you did nothing.” We got off on the wrong foot, but now he will read his notes before coming in to see me. It was just a reminder about being afflicted with an “invisible” disability. He thought back then that because of my weight, all my problems were because I might have sleep apnea. So, I never went back to see him or give him a chance. I thought he was a quack. Yes, he asked me why I never had that study done but then we got back to the reason I was there, because my neurosurgeon referred me to him so that I can have that nerve conduction test. This was the first time he did not pull out his Rx pad and that I feel was a little victory and he did listen as I spoke and took notes, another victory. The last time I saw him, I had been on three different medications and all had side effects that mimicked serious conditions, that I did not have. Most importantly, because of those medications I had a few seizures and passed out, eyes rolling back into my head. Anyhow, I am only taking one pill for my heart but the heart issue leads back to the wrong medications that I was taking as prescribed. So, I guess if I can give a bit of advice, read the labels of the medications you are putting into your body as doctors, just politicians, are humans and make mistakes.

My cameras have been in action lately in the backyard. The heat really does feel wonderful on my bones. I will end this post with a few of the pics I snapped this morning.

I have a thing for water…
The last few mornings have been gorgeous here in the valley. This is from this morning.
This zinnia has been a strong flower and has survive the temps of this past week.
The time is now!!!
leaf me alone…sorry bad joke….
Even in their dying stage they are still pretty.

Soon, I will have to re-purpose the dirt and start planting more flowers for the summer months. Last season, I was able to collect and save seeds from the sunflowers that I grew last year. Those sunflowers in the photos are from those seeds. Hopefully, I can harvest seeds from these flowers this year. I know I kid about all the issues I have with gardening but really, it has been so relaxing and I am so glad my brown thumb has started to turn green.

Thank you for stopping by to visit. Where ever in the world you are be safe and take care. Love and light and hugs…

Thank you for the sharing & those lovely pictures speak their own unspoken words….I’m not here to play the doctor or a specialist but have considered yoga, meditation & mindfulness? Our human body has great healing power….beyond imagination….even visualizing that the body is healing….injects so much energy & actually heals the body with time….this is just a suggestion & nothing more 🙏

    1. Hello Navin!

You are welcome and thank you for the compliment on the photos!

I have been doing restorative yoga, not whole-heartily. I know yoga does wonders as many people with my condition practice.
You are so correct abut the mind and healing. You are so right about the mind and the spirit. I was sent home to die almost 30 years ago after I had a stroke and I refused to believe that I was not going to survive and walk and speak again…and hear I am 🙂

Thank you again for responding and your message. Much appreciated. Have a lovely day and be well 🙂

    Howdy!

After reading the first paragraph of this post, I opened YouTube to find the Obama speech. And, yes, it is like you have described. His voice does feel like a hug of an old friend.

Regardless of the back issue (which I hope doesn’t give you serious problem), it’s nice reading that you’re enjoying walking around. I’m thinking about going cycling to let of steam. But I’m not sure because the covid-19 statistic are still increasing.

And, by the way, I love the photos, particularly the one with the hummingbird.

Good evening from the other side of the globe! 🙂

    1. Aw, that just made me smile, reading that you viewed his speech. I needed to hear his words and I am sure many people here took comfort in them 🙂

I try not to complain too much but really it has been a bet more of a challenge but I will keep getting better now that I am moving around more. Cycling around must be fun! Just wear your mask and wash your hands 🙂 You will get a better view of what is happening in your city if you bike through it, right? I miss biking, I used to have a baby seat on my bike when daughter was little, it is a great way to let off steam.

That hummingbird follows me around when I am outside. It also lets me know when I need to refill the feeder 🙂 They often stay in one area waiting for me to take the photo, or least that is what it feels like 🙂

Have a great evening or day 🙂

        Hahaha… Couldn’t agree more. 🙂

Yes, exactly. But I guess I’m gonna postpone cycling until things get better. “They” are still there after all, although people seem to igonore them.

It treats you like a friend. 😀 I wonder it must have many things to tell to you. 🙂

It’s afternoon here, 1.59 pm. I guess it’s still early am there, isn’t it? 🙂 Stay safe and be well. 🙂

  4. Sounds like a wise choice to wait it out. Here in the states, it is so divided – mask wears versus non-mask wearers. We were out yesterday on our Sunday drive and it looked like more stores were open and any place that was open had a full parking lot.

Yes, that little hummingbird shows up everywhere. I have been going through photos and in many of them it appears out of focus because I did not know it was there. A few months ago there was a hummingbird trapped in our garage. We had left our garage door open and it had flown in and tried to get out through the glass door. Anyhow, I freed the bird and now she follows me around. I worry when I don’t see her around 🙂

It is 5:15 AM. I have been sleeping more lately, this happens when our temperatures get over 100 degrees. It is a good thing though, as I hardly sleep most days 🙂

Have a great evening or morning. Take care and be safe 🙂
