Every Man

Hey now and how goes it on this Wednesday May 20, 2020? You are still here and that’s a good thing. As hard as it has been for me and as much as I wanted to get lost in a rabbit hole of despair, I just can’t. My brain and spirit won’t let me. Oh and Hubby, he seems to know when I need a pick me up and will make me laugh even when the darkest storm clouds are brewing. The last time I was here, I wrote about the run in with my neighbor and how it upset me. Anyhow, Hubby must have felt bad that he wasn’t there to protect me. He knew that my pain levels were high and I had been muddling through. Anyhow, I had been fighting back tears for a few minutes after that run in and he had retreated to the bedroom while I retreated to the safety of the couch. He emerged with the bedroom with the bandanna around his forehead and I started cracking up and the jukebox in my head started playing Suicidal Tendencies song Institutionalized (All I Wanted Was A Pepsi). Press Play…

Oh I feel this song so HARD!!!

So, the rat in dark recesses of my brain woke up and jumped on that hamster wheel and got it rattling around. He had on that Detroit Piston’s vintage jersey already so I asked, “Hey! If only you had some of those 80’s jogging shorts with th stripes…you know…” He knows, really. Then he disappeared upstairs for a few minutes and returned wearing those vintage Motor City Bad Boys jogging shorts and I nearly fell over cracking up. He nailed it. He definitely is the yang to my yin. So then I asked, “Hey, got some long sport socks?” He then disappeared and I got my make shift studio outside ready. When I have an idea, my mind works quick and Hubby feeds off of it. He even brought out the mirrored glasses before I could ask. It was bright out and I knew we had to work fast as he has Irish skin and I have Latin skin so I didn’t want to do extra work in Photoshop…no what I am sayin’?

I joke with him often but really, he could have been a model.

All this took place within 10 minutes of that confrontation with my neighbor. I barely had a chance to get my heart rate up or even shed a few tears. I got out the water hose, had him get out the Warlock, had him use a pair of Chuck’s that didn’t fit me to complete the look. We started out in a patio chair as I had visions of an air guitaring, BBqing, weekend warrior. In hingsight, I really wish I would have had a few more props and a few more male models to complete the whole shoot. Still though here is one of the ideas for this shoot that I am calling “Every Man”.

Still working on the wording. Hubby is good with those ideas…

It has been hard though, these past few days. I have been using my old lap top so that I could work from my bed as I can not sit at my computer for more than 5 minutes at a time. That has it’s own set of challenges but it allows me to keep working on things. As you can see, even though my body is not where I would like it to be my brain is in constant motion. I am sure I had a bassy, janky and dirty guitar riff rattling around in my head. Really, with the constant buzzing in my right ear because of my fucked up ear drum, I have to compensate by drowning it out with my own “head music”. It was such a fun time. I was on the hot cement. Hubby made me laugh as he played the Warlock and made faces or pointed at me.

Selfie from one of my spots on the ground. That smile though, don’t let it fool you, I was gritting my teeth as I usually do when the pain is plus 8.
Hubby is a Piston fan as well as a Laker fan.
I will walk around with the camera in my eye till I see it and you know what it is!

Things are looking up, really. Casinos are starting to awaken. Not sure if that is a good thing. My son works at one here in the Coachella Valley and I am sure he will be happy to return to work soon. Things, though, can never really return to normal. If anything, these last few years, even before the Coronavirus has exposed many things. It has exposed the goodness in many people and some ugliness. Anyhow, hopefully, we will all come out better and kinder, softer but stronger and prepared and more willing to put up with less bullshit. Wishful thinking and silly dreams of a silly overgrown, childish Grama….

One more from that set. Not quite done with the edits but like the direction it is going in….

Not much else to report. I have not worked on any of the things that are one my list of things to do like my website, my short stories, Grama Kush. Right now, I gotta focus on my getting rest. For the past two days I stayed (mostly) in bed and off my feet. I lost 5 lbs of water weight that I had gained over night. When this happens, I get the feelings of a ball in my buttocks and my legs feel as though they are heavy and not my own. I wish I were making it up and I wish they knew what causes it but the only thing that helps is to stay off my feet. Yes, I have tried, less sodium, blood pressure, diuretics, etc, nothing helps. My physicians refuse to believe that it has any correlation to Cauda Equina Syndrome or the surgery (lumbar laminectomy). I am just putting this out there into the Universe just in case there is another person that has this same mysterious condition and you also do not know the cause. So, what say you brave person?

Thank you dear reader for stopping by as I appreciate the visit. Where ever you are going today may you get there safely. Hugs to you.

You hubby is a great character and a good sporting sport. Wonderful post after your altercation with the neighbor. I like the mix of shorts, Warlock, basketball, and levity. Sorry to see you having to grit your teeth. Pain is such a pain, but you two made good out of it all.

    1. Hi Tim!
Yes he can be a good sport. He and I do make a good team. Most guys would not play along but he always does. He usually will make a face and say something sarcastic but that’s him and his dry humor. He was going to sell the Warlock a few years ago and I used it for another shoot and he thought we should keep it. The Warlock actually is a really good guitar.

Yeah, I usually have that look on my face all the time. I figure it is better than scowling. I am in pain all the time but use it like the way I did with those photos. I can’t make it go away so this is me making the best of it. You are so right, pain really is such a pain.

      Hope you are doing well.

The Warlock is a great prop guitar, and they are good guitars. I’m happy he kept it.

    1. Thank you! Getting better everyday. Glad it doesn’t last long or I get used to it. Also glad that the stuff I smoke is very strong because if it wasn’t I probably wouldn’t smile as much…ha ha!
Hope you and Madam are doing well. Looks like travel and life will be getting somewhat back to normal soon. Looking forward to going on longer road trips. We just went to the beach yesterday, will add photos later today. Have a great day and take care! Be safe πŸ™‚

It must have helped a lot πŸ™‚

We’re doing really well. She’s been cooking delicious food, experimenting with recipes she got on the internet. She can cook but she never as interested on cooking as this before this covid-19 thing. She’s really busy on the last normal. Staying at home really helps her get some time to start new hobbies.

Looking forward to reading your next post πŸ™‚ Stay safe. Don’t forget the face-mask πŸ™‚

      2. Lucky you! I wish hubby liked eating more things. Yeah I think that is the best thing about th is pandemic is the cooking. Do you help her in the kitchen or are you the official taste tester? It has been nice getting to try out new things and slow down. Really, not much has changed for me as I have been home all the time but got out to a store a few time a month.

I am working on the next post. This lap top is much slower than my desk top. If the plug gets loose, the whole thing shuts off…hah haha!! I shouldn’t complain.

Face mask good. Face mask wearing means caring for humans. At least that is what I think πŸ™‚

Hahaha… She never allows me to bother her while she’s cooking. Kitchen is her territory during cooking. But when she called me I’ll run to the kitchen. And I do the dishes. πŸ˜€

My laptop is slowing too hahaha… I guess I should delete unnecessary files. πŸ™‚

Couldn’t agree more. Have a wonderful day, Michelle. πŸ™‚

      4. YOu do the dishes?!?!? Oh my! You are a King! I would do what ever Hubby wants if only he would do the dishes! Ha ha!! Really though, he would use the same dirty cup if I would let him get away with it! ha ha!!! I really don’t like him in the kitchen either.

My laptop is 4 years old and I bought it from a site that sell refurbished computers, so it was already old. I don’t think I have bought anything brand new in a long time. Yeah, some things don’t want to leave…ugh. I guess they call it Malware and cookies. I have to stop looking at porn..he hehehehe..

You have a great day as well and stay safe. Do those dishes πŸ™‚

Yes, I do. But when I cook, she does it. πŸ˜€ But most of the time, she cooks. I mean, she likes my fried rice, but you nobody wants to eat fried rice all the time, right? πŸ˜€

Four years old is pretty new… Mine is 5 years old. Some cleaning will cure its problems. πŸ˜€

        You too… I definitely will πŸ™‚

      6. You cook too? Wow! Okay, your Madam is very lucky indeed. You like good music, you have read very great books and you have traveled. I am sure she is equally as spectacular. I am sure your fried rice is tasty. I could eat fried rice every day! I don’t remember the last time I have had it or rice for that matter. That makes me sad…
In computer years, our computers are ready for the computer retirement homes..ha ha!! Yeah, cleaning just takes time and I get side tracked so I am not even half way done transferring files to new hard drive. I know I should pay for professional help but I have time than money πŸ™‚

By the way, been listening to Leon Bridges he is one of the guys that sings with khruangbin. Oh my, he is so good…

Only the basics. But I prefer to cook fried rice with subtle flavor, with some pepper but less ketchup, It’s pretty doable, though. I usually fry some chopped onion and garlic (ajo)–hahaha, followed by egg, and put the rice in. Add some salt and pepper, mix them and let them be fried for like 5 minutes. πŸ˜€

Yeah… whoaa… it just came to me that a computer age is just like that of a dog πŸ˜€

Leon Bridge’s voice is pretty cool. I’ve never heard him before listening to Khruangbin. But I’m gonna look up for his songs. πŸ˜€

You have a nice day! And stay safe. πŸ™‚

      8. You have garlic? We have a shortage right now 😦 The things I would do for fresh garlic. All we have is pre-packaged garlic that has been sitting somewhere in oil for a long time. I shouldn’t complain. Sorry.

Your rice sounds good. I never thought about putting ketchup in the rice. Is it banana (Filipino) ketchup or just the regular (american kind)?
Curious, want to try it. I have green onions in my garden so I can throw in some of those. I think I will try making friend rice today. I have all the ingredients πŸ™‚ Mr. Ajo..haha!!

Yes, computer age is very much like dog years! HA HA! After we last spoke I looked at my laptop and did some research, my laptop was made in 2013 and I bought it refurbished in 2016. So, it is ready for retirement. Ancient by computer standards. Kidding. It has a few more years on it.

I listened to him on Google music for a few hours. Very groovy and mellow. Loved it. Oh my I talk to much! Have a lovely day. Be safe and well.

We do. It’s quite easy to find garlic here. Shortage of garlic will trigger civil unrest here, I guess. Kidding.

The tomato ketchup is good. But if you have spicier kind of ketchup it’s gonna be better. And a few soybean ketchup (the dark-colored one) will balance the flavor. Well, happy cooking! πŸ˜€

No way… yeah, your computer has endured many things. What a wise computer. πŸ˜€ Haha.

Yeah… His songs are so chillin’. No wonder his voice fits Khruangbin’s music. πŸ™‚

        You too.. Stay safe! πŸ™‚

      10. HA HA HA! I just had a cartoon image of civil garlic unrest! Ha ha ha… and me chasing people down for garlic…there must be more….ha ha ha ha!

Ooooh what say you? Soybean ketchup? Gotta try that. I have not been in an international food store since hubby and I moved in together ;( He no like any food that is not….welll something you can order through a speaker. I will have to go on-line and order some food stuff…ya ya ya ya

Yes, that computer had a whole life with someone else before me. In fact all my equipment has had lives with other people πŸ™‚ I always take sloppy seconds and quite happily πŸ™‚ I can’t pay full price for things. It is never that important and all the bugs are usually worked out by the time I get them.

Have a good day, SOrry I write…talk to much πŸ™‚

Yeah, the dark one. There are two kinds of them, one sweet, another salty. But you can also use Thai’s ketchup. πŸ™‚ Well, Madam orders online too if she’s too hungry. πŸ™‚

I don’t know but it’s hard to me to let loose old computers or laptop. I still have a Dell netbook that’s been with me since 2010. πŸ˜€

You have a good day too πŸ™‚

      12. I wish I could draw 😦 Yeah It would be…ha ha!!

Ordering food online has gotten to be to easy lately. I just planned my meals for next two weeks. trying to stick to meal plan while hubby works. He is so skinny and can eat anything and not gain weight. Not me. I need to be more careful πŸ™‚ Luckily I have kept the weight off. I know how easy it is to order online, luckily I don’t do it much although there are days when I want to order food that hubby does like to eat.

You sound like me. I have a laptop in storage that is from 2006. It is a Sony Vaio and the screen does not light up anymore but hard drive still works. I have 10 plus hours of music on it and one day I will have someone retrieve it…in my dreams…ha ha!!!

Be safe and well have a great day!

Home-cooking makes me gain weight fast. πŸ˜€ I lost almost 10 kg last year after two months on the road. My stomach was flat. And now, after 5-6 months, it’s packed πŸ˜€ Haha.

        No waaay… 2006?! 10 plus? That’s like a whole Tower Records πŸ˜€

You too! Have a great day πŸ™‚
