Hello there to you where ever you may be on this Tuesday, April 21, 2020. My inner pothead had visions of having a special 420 post yesterday but the day just got away with me. It has been nice having Hubby home. Usually, he never takes more than a week of his vacation during the year and it always seems to fly by when he does. This time, we are getting to relax and enjoy. We are spending more time outside in the garden and I smile every time I look out the window and see the flowers. Hubby jokes that I need theme music playing as there are humming birds flying around me as well as dragonfly’s and bees and the bunny and cat at my feet when I am out there watering. I am so glad he puts up with me as I am a goof ball 24/7. I hope he doesn’t think I am kidding when I want him to come up with a song with out a C chord since my fingers don’t do that…
Here a little theme music for you while you read, just press play…
Yesterday, we took a drive out to Indio after we picked up breakfast. We stopped in front of this metal thing at the intersection of Ceasar Chavez St. and 6th St. in the City of Coachella. We had passed by it several times in the last five years and I had always wanted to stop and check it out. Funny but I have never once Googled any info about that thing until this morning. That thing is Etherea created by artist Edoardo Tresoldi from Milan. This structure was built in 2018 and premiered for the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Now I know. Pretty cool.
I borrowed Hubby’s handkerchief and hopped out of the car with my camera and walked toward the structure. It looked like an unfinished cathedral. The wheels in my head were set in motion as I imagine doing a fashion shoot here or possibly using it for some type of location shoot or use in a story. I will tuck this away for later use. I made sure to hurry as I didn’t want to break any CDC rules. I did not touch any surfaces or go near any humans as there were none around.
After we left there we drove south through Coachella and drove through farming area looking at the landscape. It was a nice drive for a Monday. It had been awhile since he and I had went out for a drive and we surely needed it. It really expanded my higher eye. I took a few photos out in the garden to see if I could create something, anything. So, here is the first one I took in honor of yesterday being 420 (I know). I think I am going to add a hummingbird and some light leaks.
Later yesterday while Hubby was resting, I started flipping through the TV. Then I saw her. It was Dolly! It made me stop and watch. She was magnificent and that hair and her make-up. She was everything that was sexy and confident when I was growing up. I think I watched the movie 9-5 over 100 times when I was growing up. It made me remember the time my work friend (okay my work bff Mikey) we dressed up for Halloween as Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton and sang Islands In the Stream. It was magical. We won the contest. Mikey sure made a great Dolly! Oh gosh. Back to the A & E special, Dolly started telling the story about the song the Coat of Many Colors and the flood gates in my eyes opened up like the waters of the Mississippi yesterday. I really had a moment. Anyhow, I regained my composure and we managed to watch most of the special. It was magical, that was for sure. However, I kept playing with my hair and studying all the flash back photos of Dolly. Since my hair is the longest it has been in years and I have nothing better to do, I am going to try and copy one of Dolly’s iconic bouffant hair styles. I did try this morning and failed miserably. I had to cut a comb out of my hair… Let’s just say tomorrow I will be spending time watching Youtube videos of how to create the perfect Dolly Do’. Hopefully scissors will not be involved. Hubby said I should just get a wig, what fun would that be, puuuhlease! By the way, Dolly is a musicians musician. She plays guitar, harpsichord, piano and I am sure I am leaving off a few things…her voice and her pitch is perfect.
Like I was saying, my creative juices start moving again. I even wrote a few more pages to Throwing Fire Into the Water and think I can see the end in sight. I knew it would happen, I just need inspiration, so thank you Universe!
Thank you for taking time in day to stop by for a visit. Hope to see you again around these parts again. Have a pleasant rest of the day. Hugs to you that need it.
For any of you that follow me on IG, I will post my Dolly hair attempts with #dollyhair Let me know if you try your own Dolly hair styles! I would love to see them!
