Good day to you where ever you are this Friday morning. It was a little hard getting started this morning. Really, I could have used another 18 hours of sleep. However, me and my fear of missing out syndrome, I can’t stay in bed and lay around. My body is telling a different story. It is only allowing me to sit for no more than 5 minutes. Truth is it took a few tries to write this much. Anyhow, last night was country night at Lit Lounge in the Fantasy Springs Hotel & Casino. Honestly, I didn’t want to go, not because I didn’t know the band and I was just dreading the walk from the parking lot. The FOMO kicked in and I made a deal with myself to only stay for a set and leave before it got too late. Fat chance. The band was fun! The band that was on stage last night was the Patrick Howard Trampus Band. from San Diego, CA. Any band that can throw in a Brittney Spears cover and All the Small Things from Blink-182 at country night is alright by me. My punker heart was so full of joy!
I did shoot a few shots but wish I would have brought the Nikon, even with the bad lens as it just handles better in that room. Hopefully, with a prime lens it will clean things up a bit. Honestly, I still haven’t cracked open the owners manual for the Sony and have yet to figure out how to stop it from auto focusing. I hate auto-focus!!! It has blown so many good shots. Sometimes 95% of the photo is crisp and clear and then BAM there is a bad spot where the camera changes the shutter speed and I get blurry hands and such. Again, I probably need to read the owners manual and should do some reading today.
It was nice to get out for our weekly date night. I surely needed it. Lately, my cabin fever has been peaking. Sometimes, I need to get out to be around other people to keep my social skills up. Guess I will add “Getting out more” that to my endless list of things I want to do.
Last week when I photographed singer Sarah Winchester, I tried my hardest not to take too many photos so it would make editing easier. Most of the shots that we took outside need no editing except for a crop here and there. The ones that I shot inside need work. She really is a pro behind the camera, that is for sure. Even though I didn’t have enough light and should have used the speed-light but totally had a Grama moment and totally forgot about it. Palm to the head…
The photo above was shot while I was working on head shots with Sarah. She totally shined through my practice and Jenny.
It was nice to speak with her and learn that we have a few things in common. After she left I worried if I talked too much as I haven’t talked to many live people lately. I know I am 49 but I always feel like the dorky, nerdy kid from Duarte., never knowing if the wrong thing is going to come out of my mouth. Thank goodness I love and trust my life filter to keep me out of trouble. I am sure that job wears on him but as long as I can keep him laughing 80% of the time then all is good.
Here are a few more the outdoor shots from last Friday.
Time for me to get moving. I wonder what roads we will be traveling on this weekend. To you dear reader, where ever you are, hope you dance and sing and laugh and all that good stuff. Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again!
