uh huh oh yeah

The Dead Presidents are singing about moving to the country a lot of peaches right now and about million of peaches peaches for me millions of peaches for free. That song takes me back to the Brass kitchen and prepping the bar viddles for the night. To this day, I shudder at the thought of making hot wings with Frank’s Red Hot Sauce. My salivary glads are in overdrive right now just thinking about it. I used to cry after the 4 or 5th order of the night. However, I do miss feeding people. Some weekends I would set up a taco stand out in the patio and I was then the Taco Lady. Maybe I am thinking about it since I have been binging on episodes of Master Chef. All I know is I would crack under that pressure like an egg. I am definitely not one of those people saying “Oh I could do that with my eyes closed.” Back of house work is no picnic but it had it’s perks. I got to be creative in improvising ingredients as sometimes the pantry was bare or a refrigerator went out or something got mislabeled. Some Sunday mornings when I used to prep a spread for the football crowd the bartender on duty would make me liquid breakfast filled with courage. Yeah I know, I am not promoting on the job drankin’ or stuff like that but it got me through the day and into the night sometimes. It is amazing I can breathe with no problems as I had a pack and half day habit too. I smoked for 30 years. Yes, at 12 or 13 I used to light my Dad’s cigarettes on the stove and at some point I started sneaking puffs. So, when I worked in the Brass kitchen, a majority of my time was spent outside puffing away. Now, happy to report I am still smoking but not nicotine. It scares me that I know I could pick up another cigarette and I would be hooked again. My Dad also quit after 40 plus years of smoking but he used to say something about, “I haven’t really, I just haven’t smoked.” I now understand what he means. When I was bored, hungry, tired, excited, blah blah, I would light on up. I must be craving one as I do from time to time but know that I can not go down that road again.

Most mornings after hubby leaves for work. I usually work on edits and such. I also use that time in the morning to go for walks and stretching exercises. I love breaking the pre-dawn quiet with what ever pops up on my playlist. Right now Gregg Allman is singing about how he is no angel and he wants to rock the cradle. Oh oh but then Luke Combs is singing about winning a four night beach vacation. To me, is sounds like a Friday and the roads are calling or maybe crying. It is going to be over 118 degrees today and I only hope my plants survive. Actually, I think I would rather stay in this weekend. Next to my animals, the plants are my second favorite thing to fuss over. (This last paragraph was written about 12 hours ago.)

Anyhow, in all fairness, I started this blog post a week ago. I had an MRI of my cervical spine (the neck area) and will find out the results next week. Also, I had a steroid injection. I must say, this is day 3 after the procedure and the pain is less and it doesn’t hurt so much to walk. However, it has been difficult to sit again so I have actually rested these past few days. I even watched a few movies. It’s been nice, really. Standing has been okay so I did get to practice editing and changing photos with Photoshop, see my examples below.

Today, we took a drive to Coachella to re-shoot some background shots from Sara’s shoot. Hopefully, I got some usable shots. Not sure as I started sweating within minutes of getting out of the car and only shot for a few minutes.

I shot the photo of the model a few months ago. I didn’t like the original photo so I went back and re-shot different backgrounds a few weeks ago. This still needs work and I will get it there even if it takes a bit longer.
This is the original.

I call this one Rockin’ in the Clouds. Still not perfect but I am getting better.

There I go again, starting a thought and then forgetting it because I had to walk away. Again, I have CES which is Cauda Equina Syndrome. These past few weeks have been trying although I did get to rest more than I usually (should) do. Today was a treat. Hubby took me out for a ride and I got to re-shoot some backgrounds. Below are some of the random shots that I took from the passenger seat as hubby drove. It felt so good to be out and to go out shooting. Hope the weather is better tomorrow to I can try and catch some more of the wildlife around here. Oh yeah and my little garden is coming along nicely. I will pots some photos tomorrow or next post…

Thank you reader for the visit and hope to see you again. May all your lights be green…
