Good day and happy Friday! Yes, today, is Friday, right? Lately, I have had my head in clouds. This morning I mentioned to hubby that I wanted to go to Country Night as I hadn’t felt up to it in a while. He then mentioned that it was Friday and Country Night was last night. Big sad face! The band last night was Whiskey Maiden, a country rock cover band from Las Vegas, NV. We have only seen them one time and they rocked. The singer we saw them with was Sandy Nuyts and she is no longer with the band but boy could that girl sing! However, I am setting an alarm so I won’t forget next Thursday!
This was shot from the balcony and sometimes when you connect with the singer you get some great shots.
We tried on several occasions to get back there to watch them again but something always came up.
I even hinted that I wanted to see them in Vegas or Laughlin. Hubby…hint…hint…road trip!!!
This was one of the last few times that I got to shoot with reckless abandon in that room. This was shot on November 30, 2017. I can always tell by the angles.
The trip we took really took a toll on me. In an effort to be authentic, although my spirit is high, my body is not quite there yet. My brain has been refusing the advice of my physical therapist when he says take it slow, this is going to take time. This may be why I have not made a follow-up appointment with him for therapy. Anyhow, the weekend is here and the Ghosts are playing at a local watering hole in Indio, The Tack Room. The Tack Room is located at the Empire Polo Fields which hosts the annual Coachella Music & Arts Festival and Stagecoach Festival. I am looking forward to it as I love getting shots of the polo grounds and the fountains at dusk. The lights and shadows are fun to play with and great for practice with the 85mm.
My projects are coming along nicely, albeit, at a snails pace. I am still editing photos that I took over a year ago trying to get it just right, at least in my imperfect eyes. I did get a few T-shirt designs up on SpreadShirt but still trying to work out the design details as I have different ideas but need to learn how to execute them, and I will! As I look back at my somewhat f-up life, I am happy to be right were I am. You know the grass is really greener where ever you plant your feet.
Ah, Damien Rice’s song, The Blowers’s Daughter is playing and it brings back memories that I will have to share sometime. Funny Universe how you seem to know how to throw in the right mood music to get the creative juices flowing.
And so it is just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is the shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky
I can’t take my eyes off you…
I envy people that can play a musical instrument as they can put their thoughts and words to music. Sometimes I get moments and words that I wish I could put to music. I keep saying it, but this time I need make time to learn how to play. An old frienemy gave me an acoustic guitar as a “sorry”. He said I should learn to play. That was over ten years ago. That dude died about 5 years ago and just before he died he asked about it and at that time my oldest son had been using it. It makes me a little melancholy knowing that the guitar is in the closet without strings. See there is a song about that cause I know that one night I wrote a short story based on him in roughly 45 minutes. The character is him, threw and threw but that is about it, the rest is fiction. Here is the link to the rough draft of the story: perfect (four days in april). There are lots of typos and grammatical issues with the story but again, I wrote it in 45 minutes about 10 years ago.
Well, well, I guess I had a bit of sharing to do this morning! Thank you if you made it to the end of my medicated rantings, I mean therapy session. Aye, aye, aye…
To you dear reader, dance, sing, smile even if it’s in your car. Safe travels to you!
