Losing Sight of Shore

Welcome to my blog. A little about me. My name is Michelle Keena. I am a 40-something-year-old from the Coachella Valley that loves music and art and mixing the two together.  After all, music is an art form and that is what musicians are doing, expressing themselves through their music.  My vessel of expression has been my Nikon and the pen and paper, as I am also a writer but have been too shy to expose myself to others until just last year.  However, Andre’ Guide quoted “One cannot discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of shore for a very long time” or something to that affect. So, with this, I consent.  Here’s to losing sight of shore and to exposing myself and others to my vision and what I have been seeing and hearing through my Nikon.

For the past two years, I have been photographing the band the Ghosts of Kelso, a band that my husband plays in here in the Coachella Valley.  Around October of last year, I got ballsy and started stalking country bands at a nearby casino here in the valley.  Let me tell you, it has been a hoot!  It’s made me feel alive!  I do it for free and could care less if I ever make money or gain fame but have heard some fabulous musicians.  I just spread the joy I see as I shoot photos and videos of their performances through social medial outlets.  I am not going to lie, I do have my favorites, just like a pseudo-momma and will show up even if I am not feeling well and my eyes are having trouble focusing.  So, if you happen to see me at one of your gigs with my camera and I ask to take photos,  it’s okay to say “no”.  I won’t be offended.  Thumbs up signs are always welcomed and I will be sure to capture you in the good light.

Peace and clean sheets!
